Launched in 2010, and with a current print run of 500,000, Vodafone’s Digital Parenting Guide has aimed to help parents navigate the digital world and understand the latest digital issues.

For this year’s issue Radley Yeldar, the corporate communications agency, were given the creative brief of designing the magazine plus an e-zine for the Vodafone website.

With features including a broad range of in-depth articles and new research including; Protecting Children, Empowering Parents; Digital Grandparenting and Teenagers and Technology, the challenge for Radley Yeldar was in conveying the real sense of children’s digital lives.

In response, the agency used specially commissioned photography of children with their actual parents, friends and siblings, the graphic approach also referenced familiar iconography from the digital world.

The magazine has been distributed to schools and parents and is also available online.

Adam Mills, design director at Radley Yeldar commented: “We aimed to create a magazine that felt lively and relevant, striking a balance between clarity of information and visual impact”.

Annie Mullins OBE, Vodafone's global head of content standards added: "We want to use the Vodafone Digital Parenting Guide to help build confidence and inform parents and grandparents of the ways to help children get the most out of technology and the internet, while understanding the hazards. These are the first ever digital guidelines for grandparents.”
