Swiss confectioner launches generative music Facebook campaign

Ricola, the Swiss herbal sweet firm, is to launch its ‘Your Life is a Hit’ Facebook campaign next month, an interactive generative music push which will allow users to remix the popular ‘Ri-co-la’ jingle.

The campaign is intended to appeal to consumers nostalgia for the 80’s Ricola TV advert by personalising it around the user’s Facebook profile, producing a personalised dong and video animation.

This could see a user born in the sixties presented with a Rock and Roll interpretation of the tune or a disco theme adopted for those born in the seventies.

The resulting concoction can then be downloaded as an mp3 file alongside a corresponding band poster incorporating personal profile pics.

Andy Richman, UK Country Manager for Ricola said: “We’re very excited about launching our first musical Facebook campaign here in the UK and creating a fun way for our consumers to interact with our brand.

"Using Facebook we will be able to reach a wide audience quickly and as it incorporates video it is hoped that it could also go viral. We’re also hoping that the jingle will become one of those tunes that you’re humming on your way into work, at your desk and even tapping out on the conference table in your meeting.”
