Chris Brown, the chief executive of marketing Cheshire, has been appointed by Marketing Liverpool to promote the Liverpool brand both nationally and internationally.
Brown will assume the new role in January, concluding an eight year stint in Chester, returning to the city where he cut his cloth at the Mersey Partnership – a post that saw him undertake a number of roles including director of tourism, director of operations and a brief stint as chief executive in an interim capacity.
The new role will see Brown handed responsibility for delivering the Liverpool Plan which comprises a number of city-wide events intended to raise Liverpool’s profile.
Commenting on his appointment Brown said: "Liverpool has changed greatly over the last eight years, but what remains the same is the unerring belief that it is a special place and it's one that I share.
"It will be my task to capture that and marry it to Liverpool's story of renewal and tell a new tale of opportunity and possibility to national and international markets to encourage more investors, more tourists and more businesses to visit, return and stay."
