78% of digital marketers for luxury brands increase social media spend this year, with 73% to increase it for 2013

Over three-quarters (78 per cent) of digital marketers for luxury brands increased their spend on social media for 2012, with 73 per cent saying that they plan to increase it again for 2013.

The survey, conducted by the Luxury Interactive conference's research team, asked brands such as Louis Vuitton, Cartier and Mandarin Oriental about their spend.

It was discovered that 81 per cent of the luxury brands surveyed increased their digital marketing spend in 2012 over 2011; while 53 per cent said that they reserve between 20 and 60 per cent of their overall media spend for digital marketing.

The research also found that 83 per cent would choose Facebook if their business was forced to choose only one social media account to manage.
