The Evening Standard makes several new appointments to its news team

The Evening Standard has announced a number of key appointments to its news operation.

Following Jack Lefley’s recent appointment as news editor, Mark Wilkinson has been appointed as deputy news editor. Wilkinson joined the Evening Standard earlier this year as executive news editor, after working previously with The Times and the London Paper.

Bo Wilson has been appointed to executive news editor special projects after three years working on the Standard news desk, and before that as a reporter.

Nick Hodgson has joined the Standard as night news editor from the Press Association where he was night editor and Michael Howie has been appointed assistant news editor after working with the Standard as a reporter.

Two appointments have also been made to the Standard’s writing team.

Matthew Beard has been appointed infrastructure editor following his role as Olympics editor and also Robert Jobson has also joined the team as special royal correspondent.

Commenting on the appointments Evening Standard editor Sarah Sands said: “I’m delighted to announce these new appointments to the news team. I am sure they will help build on the success that has seen us win a string of awards including Newspaper of the Year.”
