The BBC has revealed that Dragons’ Den star and UK businessman Duncan Bannatyne has suffered a suspected heart attack.

The official Twitter of the BBC Two show read: "Sorry to hear that Duncan in hospital #GetWellDuncan from all of us on Dragons' Den."

It has been established that the 63-year-old millionaire has been rushed to Memorial Hospital where he is undergoing tests for chest pains.

The North East Ambulance Service also confirmed that paramedics had taken a male from The Bannatyne Group headquarters on Haughton Road, Darlington, at 11.40am suffering chest pains.

A spokesperson for The Bannatyne Group commented: "Everyone at the company is very concerned and upset but we know that Duncan is a very strong person and we are confident he will make a full recovery.

"Everyone wishes him well. We'd like to thank the quick and professional actions of the paramedics who attended to Duncan and thank the staff at the Memorial Hospital for his ongoing care."

Theo Paphitis recently confirmed he had spoken to Bannatyne, tweeting: ""In Scotland, no mobile signal but managed to make contact with @DuncanBannatyne and he is well and undergoing tests does not think it is heart attack!"
