CBBC has commissioned two new factual entertainment shows, Officially Amazing (13x30) from Lion Scotland and, from CBBC Productions, How to be Awesome at Everything.
Officially Amazing, comes from the team behind Horrible Histories, and aims to reveal the most fascinating records from around the world and beyond. Officially Amazing will bring to life some of the world’s most jaw dropping world records with live action, animation and song. The show will have a comedy element and the presenters from around the world will investigate the world of records to find out how and why people, objects and animals can defy our wildest imagination and achieve the unthinkable.
Each show will also feature a Guinness World Record title attempt following the preparation and training to the attempt itself. Dougie Napier is on board as series producers with Lion’s Joff Powell, Richard Bradley and Simon Welton as executive producers. Kez Magrie has also been appointed as executive producer for CBBC.
How to be Awesome at Everything is a 10x15 minute show developed and produced by the in-house team at CBBC and is billed as an “exciting, energetic one-stop shop for all the facts on how to do more cool stuff”.
Each episode features a number of quick, unpredictable lessons in ‘awesome’ from familiar CBBC faces and celebrity experts. Each episode will be cut down to two – three minute long shorts to be shown in between CBBC shows. Series producer is Rob Jenkinson (12 Again), with executive producer Annette Williams (12 Again, Hero Squad, Hoopla) and Head of CBBC Productions is Helen Bullough.
