VisitScotland has appointed APS Group Scotland to handle its contract to produce all typesetting and artwork production for its 2013 Regional Guides.

The appointment, made through the Scottish Government led Design, Print, Publishing and Associated Services contract, will see APS Group take on the contract in order to reduce supplier management costs.

A VisitScotland spokesman said: “In accordance with Public Contract (Scotland) Regulations regarding the awarding of public contracts, suppliers must be appointed following an appropriate tendering process, in which all organisations and companies are based treated fairly and equally. APS put together a bid which fulfilled the stringent criteria and will now see them produce brochures such as our Where to Stay and What to See and Do guides.”

Allan Doyle, managing director for APS Group Scotland, added: “This contract award is a significant development in the relationship between VisitScotland and APS Group. We have worked with VisitScotland since the commencement of the DPPAS contract in April 2010, and over the past two years the relationship has grown from simply print production to encompassing many more of the services APS Group are able to offer under the framework agreement.”

The contract was previously serviced by five agencies, The Drum understands and is rumored to be worth £250,000.
