Domino’s Pizza has announced that nearly 60 per cent of its deliveries come from online sales.

Over the 13 week period to 23 September the firm saw its e-commerce division burgeon to account for 58.4% of UK delivered sales, a significant improvement on the 46.5% share it held over the equivalent period in 2011.

Mobile sales continued to drive much of this expansion rising by 46.9% to account for 18.5% of total online sales.

Offline Domino’s have opened 11 new stores so far this year throughout the UK, Ireland and Germany although the firm closed a trial Tesco outlet in Dudley.

This boosted year to date system sales by 10% to £424.1m.

Domino’s chief exec Lance Batchelor, commented: "Our franchisees continue to show demonstrable enthusiasm and commitment to drive the business forward, even in a challenging economic climate. We continue to set ourselves ambitious targets but believe that a great product, supported by exemplary customer service and innovative marketing will deliver strong growth in the years to come.”
