Apple co-founder and US citizen Steve Wozniak has revealed his intent to seek Australian citizenship after speaking to reporters whilst queuing for an iPhone 5 in Brisbane.

Wozniak, a regular visitor the antipodean nation, has expressed admiration for a £23bn government initiative to connect every Australian citizen to superfast broadband by 2021, a move which Wozniak claims is without parallel in his country of birth.

Speaking to a local radio station Wozniak said: “I intend to call myself an Australian and feel an Australian, and study the history and become as much of a real citizen here as I can.”

Wozniak currently lives in Australia.
