Berry Bros. & Rudd Spirits has unveiled a limited edition run of The Glenrothes - The Extraordinary Cask Collection - which dates from the late 1960s and early 1970s. The limited run of single cask bottlings of The Glenrothes comes after increased demand from whisky enthusiasts for more older and rare bottlings and will retail from £3000.

Specialist branding agency, Brandhouse, has created the bottle, secondary package and name of the collection aiming to convey the premium and exclusive nature of the product to discerning whisky collectors around the world. Retaining the classic bottle shape of The Glenrothes, Brandhouse enhanced the design with faceted lead crystal glass inspired by cut-glass whisky tumblers. A polished brass plaque has also been applied to the front of each bottle, engraved with the year of distillation and the bottle number.

The head of the stopper is fashioned from the wood of cask #10573 in which the whisky was matured, and each bottle is accompanied by tasting notes, hand signed by the Malt Master Gordon Motion. Each bottle comes on an oak plinth inside a leather case which can also be used for display purposes.

“Extraordinary is a term associated with the heritage of the wines sourced and endorsed by Berry Bros. & Rudd, but it applies equally to these casks selected for their personality and excellence, so it’s perfect for this collection” explains Ronnie Cox, brands heritage director. “We’re delighted with how the whisky looks and the anticipation for this release is such that the first Extraordinary Cask is on allocation only.”

Brandhouse’s creative director, Dave Beard, added: “It was crucial that every aspect of the branding and design for The Glenrothes Extraordinary Cask Collection reflected the authenticity, craftsmanship and high quality of the whisky."
