Visitor attraction the ss Great Britain Trust has enlisted Sift Digital to create a new campaign.

Sift's brief is to create an integrated campaign to tell the story of the ship's most famous and mysterious Captain - Captain Gray.

Visitors to the ss Great Britain website will be invited to ‘take a journey and discover the life of Captain Gray’ through the use of platform games all with outcomes designed to be shared across multiple social platforms.

The game follows a series of story points including proving diplomacy by solving a dispute with passengers to promote you to First Mate and making an animated Gray (who was a fitness fanatic) climb the ship’s mast through button bashing.

Sift have worked closely with the ss Great Britain interpretation and curatorial teams to ensure all references to life on board, as well as references to his character are accurate at the time of Gray’s captaincy.

All stories have been based on evidence from passenger diaries, objects and archive material from the Trust’s collection.

Sally Cordwell, director of marketing at the ss Great Britain Trust, said: "The Captain Gray campaign will celebrate the life of the renowned Captain and allow us to integrate our interpretation through to our social media platforms and website – continuing the experience and two-way conversation we have with our visitors into the online space.”

The campaign launches on 25 October.
