Travelodge, the budget hotel company, has appointed Catriona Kempston to the position of sales and marketing director.

Hull Central Travelodge.

Kempston joins Travelodge from Europcar, where she was marketing director. During her time there, she was responsible for building a consumer marketing department following the merger with National and Alamo, and relaunching the brand on TV in 2011.

Prior to this, Catriona worked at Premier Inn for three years, where she was head of brand marketing. In this role she was responsible for the rebrand of Premier Travel Inn to Premier Inn and the launch of the Lenny Henry campaign. She has also worked for blue chip brands such as Vauxhall and Barclaycard and was the first winner of the CIM Women in Marketing Award for Female Marketer of the Year in 2010.

Kempton joined Travelodge in April 2012 on an interim basis and has now been appointed to the executive management team, reporting to Travelodge’s CEO, Grant Hearn.

Hearn commented: “In the short term Catriona has been with us, she has made a huge contribution in further developing our high profile brand.”

Kempston added: “This is a very exciting time to be joining Travelodge and returning to the budget hotel sector. Consumers are turning to the sector more and more, so it’s important that we continue to retain our much-loved status as a brand, and show consumers that we’re putting them at the heart of everything that we do.”

Travelodge is further strengthening its sales and marketing team, with the appointment of Brad Poole as Ecommerce Manager and Jane Carswell as Brand Manager.
