John Mathers, CEO of Holmes & Marchant in the UK, has announced his decision to quit his role in order to join the Design Council as chief executive.

Mathers joined the Marlow based design agency three years ago as managing director, prior to the formation of Holmes & Marchant Group.

The changes coincide with the firm’s relocation to central London where it will share offices with its sister agency, MSQ Partners.

This move has been described as a bid to form a singular ‘communications hub’ for clients with both agencies sharing resources under the Holmes & Marchant banner.

Peter Reid, CEO and co-founder at MSQ Partners, said: ‘We wish John well in his new role – his skills and expertise make him the right man to lead the Design Council in the future. He has certainly been an invaluable asset to our business, and we’re very pleased to retain his services at the Holmes & Marchant Group in an advisory capacity.’
