National charity for families with disabled children, Contact a Family, has seen its website revamped by Public Zone, the pro-social division of Zone. The website overhaul is part of a new long-term digital strategy for the charity and aims to improve the usability of the site, and also make navigation around the site easier helping the charity better meet its goals.

“The new Contact a Family website gives us a superior digital platform to meet our goals of providing good quality information and supporting families with disabled children across the UK. We’re looking forward to seeing the impact this makes on the work we do,” commented project manager at Contact a Family, Brian Moran.

Two key areas of functionality have been added to the site by Public Zone, a new fundraising section is now included in the Get Involved area and a more prominent search feature has also been introduced.

The improved search box on the homepage allows users to browse the Contact a Family medical directory for information about disabilities and to find support at a local, more accessible level. The new fundraising area also allows for the charity to traffic donations and fundraising online. The section also includes a calendar which users can add and sign up to events through.

An easy-to-use CMS also provides Contact a Family with a better website-user experience, targeting content to better support families after diagnosis.

Julie Dodd, UX design director, added: “Our audience-led approach to the redesign was supported by our strong user research. This has helped us to create a new website that directs parents quickly and effectively to the information they need, and better reflects the truly amazing work Contact a Family does.”
