Social media agency Yomego has announced the appointment of Jillian Ney, a doctor of social media and academic researcher at Strathclyde University, as research and insight director.

Ney, who recently featured in The Drum’s 30 under 30, will oversee strategy and direction for clients ranging from Tesco and British Airways to Morrison Bowmore Distillers in addition to refining Yomego’s metrics around social engagement.

The post will see Ney work a three day week at Yomego, allowing her to retain her existing consultancy work and role as a visiting lecturer on social media and contemporary consumption at the University of Strathclyde.

Steve Richards, MD at Yomego, said: “Recruiting Jillian is a huge coup. She’s been on our radar for a while, as her work has attracted acclaim, so we’re pleased to be able to bring her on board in an official capacity. Her academic background will bring a great perspective to the business and her broad view of the sector will be a great asset to clients.”

Ney added: “I’ve known about and admired Yomego for some time now. They are really tackling the issues that matter in social – such as understanding and quantifying the value of social engagement. I am impressed with their work, thinking and strategy and can’t wait to get started.”
