Current controller of acquisitions for Sky Entertainment, Sarah Wright, has been promoted to controller of acquisitions for Sky, adding acquisitions for Sky Movies to her existing entertainment responsibilities. Wright will take over from current controller of acquisitions for Sky Movies, Simon Rexworthy, in October as he moves to Sky’s Strategy team.

Wright has been with Sky for three years and her achievements to-date include the launch of Sky Atlantic and overseeing the acquisitions strategy for the re-launches of Sky Living and Sky Arts. The new role will see Wright extend these skills across to the Sky Movies platform.

Rexworthy will now take a broader strategy role within Sky following his success in developing Sky Movies. In his four years at Sky Movies, Rexworthy played a key role in Sky Movie initiatives including the creation of new services and securing additional rights from Sky’s content partners to support both channel and platform plans.

In addition, Holly Comiskey and Lucy Criddle have both been promoted to the roles of senior acquisitions manager for Movies and Entertainment respectively.

Ian Lewis, director of Sky Movies and director of acquisitions at Sky, commented: ““Sky’s focus will be always be on giving our customers what they want, and our acquisitions team are central to this, in selecting the best entertainment and movies out there.

“While we’re sad to lose Simon, who’s been an enormous asset to the team, I’m confident that Sarah’s experience makes her the perfect candidate to take on the Movies role. Lucy and Holly have a great track record and I’m sure under Sarah’s expert guidance, the team will secure an even more impressive portfolio of content for our customers in future.”
