“I think ITV owe us an apology”: Celtic FC boss Neil Lennon hits back at ITV tweet
Following last night’s (30 August) Champions League draw, where Celtic was placed in Group G, @itvfootball tweeted: “Bye bye Celtic. They’ve drawn Barcelona, Benfica and Spartak Moscow.”
The tweet provoked the anger of Celtic fans on the site, as well as Celtic manager Neil Lennon who swiftly replied: “I think itv owe us an apology.”
ITV Sport clearly thought so too and deleted the tweet from its account. An apology soon followed which read: “To Celtic fans out there - we mean no disrespect. An ill-advised way of us saying we think you’ve got a very tough draw. Apologies.”
