Amazon is to expand its online storage business, Cloud Drive, making it available to UK consumers for the first time.

The online marketplace is offering customers 5GB of data for free to entice punters in, with various paid for packages extending from £6 for 20G right up to £320 for 1,000G.

It will act as a direct competitor to existing services such as Dropbox, Google Drive and Microsoft’s SkyDrive but has the advantage of a pre-existing huge installed user base.

Cloud Drive first debuted in the US way back in March 2011.
