Controversial Bradford West MP George Galloway has stirred further opprobrium after branding an adversary on Twitter as a ’window-licker’.

The derogatory term for a disabled person was made during a conversation on Sunday to @Hawfa in which he riposted: “you badly need medical help son. Will decent Rangers fans please substitute this windae-licker …"

Fellow Twitter users were quick to brand the Respect MP as disrespectful with @Skipjack451 responding: "I wonder what the disabled members of your constituency will make of your use of the slur 'window licker'? You're a disaster.

The own goal comes ahead of the Paralympic Games and has prompted disability charity Mencap to call for an apology and in the aftermath of controversial remarks on rape.
