Global arts and technology initiative, The Creators Project, has paired American psychedelic pop band, Yeasayer with renowned software artist Casey Reas to create an elaborate stage set which utilises elements of reflection and refraction to produce an immersive, multi-layered audience experience using colour and light.

Architecture and design firm Aranda\Lasch were brought in to develop the mirrored ‘canvases’ of the set, and Yoshi Sodeoka has created music videos that will stream throughout the bands performance on the canvases alongside custom-designed visuals from Reas and Aaron Meyers.

Meyers has developed the bespoke software which allows the band to control the visuals on stage and includes a motion capture app which can distort the visuals of the band members’ faces as they play. Two dedicated visual performers, Nick and Jay, will tour alongside the band synchronising the visual media to the specific performance each night.

The initiative created by Intel and Vice visionary artist’s aims to use technology to push the boundaries of creative expression. A spokesperson for the project commented: “The result is a sculptural conglomeration of mirrors, video, reflection, and sound, with unique custom-designed software and visuals that elevates the band's performance.”
