Confused.com has released an app which monitors driving behaviour in order to rewards good drivers. The free-to-download MotorMate app aims to show users how good a driver they are whilst earning them rewards.

By driving 20 miles, users will receive a complimentary in-car cradle and charger for their mobile phone, driving 250 miles will earn users a £25 cashback and if users of the app buy car insurance through Confused.com they will earn a further £25 cashback.

The app mirrors in-car telematics technology where a black box is fitted to a car to monitor driver performance and potentially allowing good drivers to benefit from cheaper insurance premiums. The app allows users who are interested in telematics but unsure about installing a black box to “try before you buy.”

Developed in partnership with RoSPA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) and driving technology company, MyDrive, the app aims to encourage road users to drive better with the incentive to receive real rewards.

The app is available for both Android and iPhone through Google Play and the Apple App Store.
