Savings and investment company Standard Life has expanded its public affairs agency roster to three, having hired Message Matters, Cicero Consulting and Hanover to cover different territories.

Covering Westminster will be Hanover, with Cicero covering Brussels and Message Matters in Scotland.

Howard Davies, head of public affairs, explained: “We’ve been operating on a single agency basis across all our activities since 2009. Due to the range of policy issues in which we’re engaged, we felt now was the right time to divide the brief to ensure we benefit from focussed advice and expertise to help us fulfil our ambitions across the broad geographical front on which we operate.

“We’ve made significant progress in growing the impact and range of our Public Affairs activity in recent years. We want to take this to the next level to deliver stronger cut through on a range of core issues, not least in tackling the long- term savings deficit in the UK.

“The appointed agencies all demonstrated the ability to complement existing strengths within the team and provide the kind of incisive advice and delivery which will help to strengthen Standard Life’s contribution on key policy issues.”

DLA Piper was the previous agency.
