Apple has been named as the most valuable company in the world of all time after its market value leapt during New York trading to close at $665.

The rally comes ahead of the much anticipated launch of both the iPhone 5 and miniature iPad as well as continued speculation surrounding an Apple TV set.

Life isn’t all a bed of roses for Tim Cook however, Apple’s head honcho is having to contend with an appreciating dollar which is making their pricey goods ever more unattainable in key markets.

The firm is also facing increasingly potent competition from Samsung whose S3 model is proving every bit as popular as the iPhone.
