UK dance music festival Creamfields, has released a HTML5 game to celebrate the festivals 14th anniversary.

The game, developed by Corporation Pop, gives a nod to the popular ‘Whack-a-Mole- arcade game, encouraging played to click on (or tap, for touchscreen devices) a series of archetypal festival goers as they pop up from their burrows, in front of the Creamfields stage.

Points are earned for direct hits with high scores entered onto a leader board and rewarded with a series of festival-related prizes. Using Facebook’s social sharing features scores are posted on players’ walls to encourage friends to take part.

Created using HTML5 which allows the use of Javascript to create animations rather than using third-party software like Flash, this enables the game to be played without a plugin across multiple Javascript enables browsers. This includes Javascript enabled browsers on devices including the iPhone and iPad (which don’t support Flash).

Laura Buckley, head of marketing at The Cream Group, commented: “We’re always impressed by what the guys at Corporation Pop come up with. They have an in-depth understanding of our market and this game is no exception. We’ve already had great feedback from the fans and we hope to do more promotions like this in future."

Managing director at Corporation Pop, Dom Raban, added: "Creamfields have over 300,000 ‘likes’ on their facebook page so this is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate the value of using game mechanics to engage with your fan base."
