Arianna Huffington launches live streaming channel HuffPost Live

Arianna Huffington has launched her latest news venture, a live-streamed talk channel called HuffPost Live.

Following the success of The Huffington Post site worldwide, HuffPost Live, has hired a total of 100 staff to work front of camera and behind the scenes on the new channel.

Speaking in an opening segment, Arianna Huffington, said the new venture would be "groundbreaking."

"Seven years ago HuffPost disrupted the way people engage with news," she said. "And now with HuffPost Live, you're invited to be part of a different kind of conversation, whoever you are, wherever you are."

HuffPost Live has been billed as the the "best of the old" with its own new twist. The first few hours of live streams showed a the stream follows a similar format to traditional talk TV formats.

The channel's president, Roy Sekoff, described the channel as "a platform for engagement", adding the team wanted to create the "most social video experience possible."
