Online players of World of Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo games have discovered their account details stolen after a hack attack on parent company Blizzard.

Revealing the details on a message posted on Battle.net 's account management service, users were urged to change their login information immediately.

So far, it has said there was no evidence that credit card numbers or other personal details had been taken.

In the announcement, Blizzard boss Mike Morhaime said it discovered the breach on 4 August and has affected users throughout the US and Canada, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia.

Morhaime added: "We are truly sorry that this has happened."
