Former managing director at Vevo (UK) Jonathan Lewis has taken on the role of Channel 4’s first head of digital and partnership innovation.

Announced by Channel 4’s director of sales, Jonathan Allan, Lewis will be responsible for driving Channel 4’s innovation agenda from a commercial perspective through digital, data, sponsorship, product placement, advertiser programming and promotions to create integrated and innovative marketing solutions. Lewis will report directly to digital leader, Carl Read and partnership leader, Rob Ramsey.

Prior to working with Vevo, Lewis spent 15 years at Channel Five and the Northern & Shell Group, being made head of digital media and commercial partnerships in 2008. At Northern & Shell, he oversaw all of the group's online assets including Channel Five, OK!, Star, New, and Express Group Newspaper sites - growing revenues, page impressions and video views. Lewis also represented Five on the YouView shareholder board and pioneered new strategic partnerships with companies including Google, Facebook, Sony and Samsung.

Speaking of the appointment director of sales at Channel 4, Jonathan Allan commented: “I had Jonathan in mind as a great candidate when I created this role back in autumn last year, but the timing wasn't right.

“Luckily, the extended search to fill this role has enabled me to get the ideal person for the job. His experience is a perfect fit and we are very much looking forward to him becoming part of the new leadership team.”

Lewis added: “I'm incredibly excited at the opportunity to join Channel 4 at such a significant period of evolution in digital innovation. I've had some fantastic experiences, both in TV and also leading the UK launch of a digital start-up, and Channel 4 is an opportunity I couldn't resist.”
