Mike McGrail, owner of the popular social penguin blog, has left Glasgow PR agency The BIG Partnership to open his own consultancy.

McGrail, who was a senior digital account manager and social media strategist at The BIG Partnership for nearly two years, is understood to be set to open his own consultancy, while continuing his blog.

Allan Barr, head of digital marketing at The BIG Partnership, said: "Mike's a smashing guy. He's played a great part in helping to develop our digital division here at BIG and we're already discussing collaborating again on future projects. In the meantime we're actively recruiting to further strengthen our digital teams on the back of recent client wins."

Last week, The BIG Partnership announced that it was set to enter into England, with the opening of an office in Liverpool.
