The Olympic gold medal success of the Team GB dressage team yesterday has not gone unreported by the press, despite Sir Chris Hoy winning his sixth gold to become Britain’s greatest Olympian. However both the Daily Express and the Daily Mirror have mistakenly used a picture of the Dutch dressage team winning bronze instead of their British rivals.

The front cover of the Daily Express, which runs with the headline ’22 Carat Gold’ and pictures of other Team GB winners such as Sir Chris Hoy and Laura Trott, also used a picture of the Dutch bronze winning team. To make matters worse, The Daily Mirror has made exactly the same mistake, only the picture has been used across its centre spread instead – despite the team wearing orange on their uniforms.

The Team GB gold medalists in the dressage event were Carl Hester, Laura Bechtolsheimer and Charlotte Dujardin.
