Guide Dogs has this week unveiled a new ad for its sponsor a puppy campaign, telling the story of how a man’s guide dog saved his life.

In the ad, created by RAPP, Dave Kent discusses how his guide dog Quince pulled him away from danger after a near-miss with a car.

Kent said: "People don’t realise how common these stories are, they happen to guide dog owners everywhere, every day. Quince saved my life. Whenever I go out to work or to see friends, I put my total faith in him.

"Quince and his predecessors have been my inspiration. They make living in central London and working all over the capital do-able. Without Quince, I couldn't be Dave."

The advert asks the public to help Guide Dogs to train future guide dogs by sponsoring one of its specially-bred puppies for £1 a week.

Maria Novell, Guide Dogs' Head of Individual Giving, said: "Our latest advert shows just how important guide dogs are to their owners. As well as enabling blind and partially sighted people to enjoy the same freedom as everyone else, guide dogs often literally save their owner's lives.

“We don’t receive any government funding for our guide dogs, and completely rely on the generosity of the public. By sponsoring a puppy, people can help us transform a life.”
