Smirnoff Vodka has once again ranked number 1 on the ISWR’s Top 50 International Spirits Brands list.

Outselling nearest competitor, Bacardi, by 6.79 million cases, Smirnoff has increased the gap between the two by over half a million cases this year. Smirnoff sells more than one million cases in five different countries spanning four regions.

Vodka brands make up one quarter of the list, with Ukrainian brand Khortytsa entering for the first time at number 11, following increased sales across Europe.

Diageo has eight brands in total on the list including, third-ranked Johnnie Walker, highest ranking liqueur Baileys at number 10, top ranking gin Gordon’s in 19th place. Pernod Ricard has the most brands on the list with 10 entries including vodka brand Absolut in fourth place, which grew 2.8 per cent in 2011.

Bacardi-Martini’s William Lawson’s Scotch placed at number 45, but was the fastest-growing brand of 2011, increasing by 31.7 per cent, mainly due to strong growth in the Russian market where whisky sales continue to boom.
