Chris Moyles’ Radio 1 breakfast ratings dip below 7m

Chris Moles tenure at the Radio 1 breakfast show is to end on a whimper after his ratings slumped below 7m – a five year low.

Some half a million listeners have deserted the show since last year according to the latest Rajar figures, bequeathing his successor Nick Grimshaw a tough inheritance.

With 11.27m listeners in the last quarter Radio 1 remains the second most popular radio station in the country, behind radio 2 which boasted 14.46m.

Radio 2’s breakfast DJ Chris Evans remains the most popular breakfast show presenter, drawing an audience of 8.95m.
