NBC didn't seem to learn a lot from their blast by Twitter fans on Friday, reported by the Drum, over the decision to broadcast a tape-delayed telecast of the opening ceremony of the Olympic games.

Ryan Lochte: Gold winner

The very next day, the controversy erupted again.

NBC viewers at midmorning on Saturday saw three American gymnasts in a taped interview.

Trouble was was that at the swimming pool right then America's Ryan Lochte was winning the gold in the men's 400 individual medley -- and Michael Phelps was finishing fourth.

Social media lit up yet again.

"The amazing thing is not that Phelps lost," posted one person on Twitter. "The amazing thing is that in 2012 we can't watch it live on TV."

It was the big Olympics story of the day.

NBA star Dirk Nowitzki tweeted, "Can't believe they didn't show Phelps Lochte live. Now, we all know who won. This is frustrating."

Complaints about delayed coverage of top events have been around for years. So far NBC is sticking to its guns and keeping the big stories for prime time, said the San Jose Mercury News .

People could see the Phelps-Lochte duel live through NBC's live online coverage (www.nbolympics/liveextra) which is offering everything in real time on the Web and through mobile apps

The paper quoted one commentator on Twitter: "The world has changed. This tape delay thing doesn't work anymore."
