Nick Brien, CEO of McCann Worldgroup (see image) has praised the work of his company, which was the official advertising partner of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Speaking from the McCann’s London head office, where an Olympic themed party was held, inviting staff and clients to celebrate the build-up to the Games, Brien highlighted the pride in the team working on the Games.

Speaking to The Drum, Brien said of working towards London 2012: “The Olympic Games has been one of the most exciting and challenging projects. It’s been a long time in coming. Everyone involved with the Olympics has had a different experience and most importantly this has seen all of the companies working together over a long period of time. It’s not been for a week, a month, a year, this has been a four-year-marathon. I am most proud of the fact that we are doing something for society, for the country and it’s brought a huge amount of pride to the organisation and the level of collaboration - I’ve never seen anything like it during my time working in the company. I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve achieved.

As to what working on the Games has brought to the Group, he added: “It’s given the group a sense of belief that whatever company you work for, McCann’s, Momentum, Futurebrand, Weber Shandwick, that if you all work together you’re going to have a lot more fun because this is one integrated project, but the Olympics doesn’t have just one solution. It’s a complex web of activities that have to be woven together in a really smart and strategic way with creativity at the core; the design of the torches, the design of the tickets, all the logo identifications and the logistics and weaving them together in a really creative way.”

He concluded: “We’ve never done anything like this before, so I’m so proud that as we come towards the launch of the Olympics, the level of excitement is fantastic. I couldn’t be more proud.”
