In a rare change of heart, The British Olympic Association has bowed to pressure and reversed its decision not to accredit The Voice for the 2012 Games.

The Voice, Britain’s newspaper for the black community, has requested two passes the Games, but were denied accreditation for the Olympic Stadium media centre.

It then began an online campaign, with over 2,600 people having signed by Wednesday lunchtime and had also received the backing of the NUJ.

Rodney Hinds, sports editor at the Voice, said: “Thanks to everyone who got behind Zita’s campaign - it’s proof that people power does work and we’re humbled by the public’s response. While it’s a shame it had to get this far, Credit to the BOA and IOC for agreeing to let us cover the games. We look forward to delivering first class coverage of the Games from our unique perspective."
