Online student community The Student Room (TSR) has launched MarkedbyTeachers.com, a unique social learning website for students.

MarkedbyTeachers.com contains the largest accessible body of student work in the UK with over 150,000 samples of student essays available to the seven million monthly visitors. Through structured peer reviews students use the site to help each other learn. Experienced teachers (including department heads, examiners and published authors) then take samples of work across all subject areas and levels and write full marking comments for students, as well as providing learning tips for each of their subjects.

Pete Taylor, director of MarkedbyTeachers.com, commented: ““MarkedbyTeachers.com is a massive evolution from the website it replaces (Coursework.Info) and really demonstrates the value of social learning in education.

“It is the first and only website to offer reviews from teachers and A* students and has received an amazingly positive reaction from teachers and education bodies across the UK.”

Each piece of work uploaded to MarkedbyTeachers.com is provided to TurnItin, the plagiarism prevention tool used by almost all UK universities and exam boards.

The service costs £4.99 monthly or £37.50 for an annual pass which allows students to download unlimited items from the site, alternatively students can upload their own work for free access to the database.

Val Shore, examiner for A-Level English Literature, added: “MarkedbyTeachers.com provides the informed, concise and targeted tutorial support students need to help them achieve their full potential.”
