It promised that AP's Live Desk would provice a 'continuous flow' of dispatches from the streets and Olympic venues throughout the Games.

The AP Mobile app, which the news association claims has been downloaded more than 11 million times, has been updated to include a Summer Games section featuring medal counts, athlete profiles, results, stories, photos and video.

AP will also provide its customers in the media with high-definition video and HTML interactives.

It has already made a white-label, customizable summer games microsite, complete with embeddable widgets, available on the websites of its member newspapers and broadcasters.

“As the media landscape has rapidly changed over the years, we have innovated to ensure that we bring customers and consumers what they want during the Olympics,” said Lou Ferrara, the AP’s managing editor for sports.

AP is sending to the games 91 text reporters and editors, 85 photographers and photo editors, 18 video journalists and three radio reporters, plus 21 technology staffers.
