Marketing agency WAA has enlisted former Olympian Colin Jackson and Team GB medal hopeful Greg Rutherford as part of its PR campaign for Westfield's Merry Hill and Derby shopping centres.

The Sutton Coldfield agency was appointed to create a communications campaign to drive footfall to the centres, and used Westfield's status as a London 2012 partner business to kickstart a range of Olympic-themed activity.

TV pundit Jackson and long jumper Rutherford visited the Westfield sites, where a mini Olympic stadium had been recreated including an indoor long-jump pit and run-up.

Inside the centres they took part in live Q&A sessions with shoppers and masterclasses for schools and sports clubs.

Dan Clifford, head of PR at WAA, said: "Being selected is great recognition of the ideas we presented and the strength of team we have, we are looking forward to delivering them coverage that reflects their status and I am delighted that the opening event has already set the bar so high.”
