Mobile marketing company Somo has teamed up with Audi UK to unveil its new car mileage tracker app, which helps business drivers monitor and share the miles they travel.

The Audi Mileage Tracker uses GPS mapping to automatically calculate the expenses owed based on the claimable amount per mile or kilometre entered by the user. The app can generate a spreadsheet which logs the drivers’ journeys over a period of time and, is integrated with email for easy sharing. Regular trips can be programmed into the app and the app records the exact distance travelled from door-to-door, even when roadworks or traffic jams disrupt the regular route.

Vinny Hayes, client services director, Somo, commented: “Reclaiming driving mileage has been the bane of business travel for years. The app we’ve created for Audi makes the process of tracking journeys and calculating exact costs effortless and intuitive.”

The app means drivers no longer need to make notes of their day-to-day travel and cuts down on the risk of over or under claiming on expenses.

Nathan Dennis, fleet and aftersales marketing manager, Audi UK, added: “We’re delighted to offer this free app to all drivers to help make their lives a bit easier.

“It’s the latest demonstration of Audi’s commitment to ‘Vorsrpung durch Techhnik’ – progress through technology – and part of our mission to create the best possible digital experiences for our customers and fans.”

Hugh Fletcher, digital marketing manager at Audi UK believes the app will “make a big difference to business,” he explained: “Companies are always looking for ways to be more efficient, especially during tough times. Audi and Somo are determined to use the latest mobile technologies to help cut waste and speed up business processes.”

I did this for Honda 10 years ago. It didn't work then. I doubt it will work now!
