Eriskay Associates contacts around 100 agencies for ‘design competition’

Approximately 100 Scottish design and branding agencies have been approached by Eriskay Associates to take part in a ‘design competition’ on Survey Monkey, to come up with a brand name.

The competition, for a new product for Gael Force Group, has offered up to £100 for entries the agency feels ‘will be helpful’.

The survey, sent to agencies chosen from Yell.com, says there will be cash awards of £50 and £100, but states further down that all awards will be made at the discretion of the company, and that ‘the directors reserve the right to make use of all responses and ideas received in this survey without offering further remuneration to respondent’.

Eriskay Associates said ‘companies that we feel make the most appropriate suggestions will be invited to tender for the project’, but were unable to provide a budget for the full project.

One source described the process as having “a cavalier disregard for the skills of the creatives and the value design can add.”

Eriskay Associates did not respond to requests to comment at the time of writing.
