Music magazine NME has joined up with Spotify to create a music recommendation app.

The app, which can be found within Spotify, allows users to read interviews with the titles ‘favourite new bands’ without leaving the music platform and includes recommendations from the magazine.

The announcement came in the form of a blog post and the partnership aims to bridge the interests of both the NME and the Spotify communities of music lovers.

The use of Spotify is not new to the publication as they have been actively creating Spotify playlists for some time, Luke Lewis, editor of NME.com, commented: “It's [Spotify] a great way of involving our users – they can suggest tracks, and then debate which ones have been included. So it made sense to take our Spotify integration a stage further, and build an app.”

Lewis continues: “It's not just about playlists, though – the NME app enables users to read entire features on new bands. So you can have the one-click, instant music experience if that's what you want, but there's a mag-like, lean-back element to it too.”

The launch of the NME Spotify will also coincide with a new look for nme.com/newmusic.
