Bauer Radio’s Key 103 and Digital Radio UK yesterday marked Manchester Digital Day by switching on a brand new digital signal that sees over 100,000 households now able to receive all of the local digital radio services for the first time.

Key 103’s Breakfast Show hosts Mike and Chelsea switched on the signal, with the station rebranding its digital output to Key 103D for the day, as well as creating a pop-up station for digital radio listeners.

Gary Stein, station director for Key 103, said: “We’re proud to be supporting Manchester Digital Day by launching our very own pop-up station for one day only. Key 103D is a great promotion that will give listeners a real reason to tune into Key 103 on digital radio. It has certainly kept the presenters on their toes as they will be running between two live studios all day! The boost in digital radio coverage is great news for radio listeners in Manchester with nearly 90% of households now able to listen to Key 103, Magic 1152 and heat radio on digital.”

Ford Ennals, CEO at Digital Radio UK, added: “The Manchester signal boost is great news as it brings the full line-up of digital radio stations to 250,000 more people. The digital coverage now means that nearly 90% of households in Manchester can receive 42 digital radio stations including Key 103, Magic 1152 and Heat Radio. There has never been a better time to listen to digital radio in Manchester. We’d like to thank Key 103 and Bauer Radio for making Manchester Digital Day possible.”
