Carla Buzasi, the editor in chief of Huffington Post UK, reflected on the site's first 12 months in the UK after being named editor of the year at the Online Media Awards.

Buzasi believes the Huffington Post's successful maiden year in the UK shows that new brands now have the opportunity to shake up the country's online newspaper scene.

Speaking at the Online Media Awards, Buzasi told The Drum: "The British press is pretty hard-nosed and it feels perhaps the knives have been out a little bit for us. We’re the new kids on the block, but it’s been lots of fun.

“I think there’s definitely the opportunity for new brands now. Yes, there are these amazing, heritage brands that have been around for decades if not centuries but it’s nice to be shaking up the media scene a little bit."
