London based Lewis PR has been appointed by kids’ digital entertainment platform BinWeevils.com to handle their public relations and communications.

BinWeevils.com is a unique online platform where kids are entertained and educated through an interactive digital experience. Aimed at kids aged 6 to 12, users of the site can create their own avatar – a ‘Bin Weevil’ – and explore the online world, socialise with other Bin Weevils, work on puzzles or quizzes or even publish their own magazine.

Kids TV channels Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network also have content built into the site for users to watch and in November 2011 the site won the BAFTA Kids’ Vote award for favourite website beating competition from Disney, Moshi Monsters and GirlsGoGames.

Amelia Johnson director at Bin Weevils and co-founder of the company explains the focus of Bin Weevils is not only on entertainment but to develop a safe and engaging environment for young people to develop social and educational skills.

Founded in 1995 by former Financial Time journalist, Chris Lewis, Lewis PR specialise in integrated PR and are looking forward to working with Bin Weevils’ on both proposition and strategy.
