Big Brother featured a pair of SimpleUsability eye tracking glasses as part of its ‘Eyes on the Prize’ task on Wednesday, with housemates to focus on the prize they would like to win, while being distracted by burlesque dancers and 17 foot snakes.

The glasses showed exactly where the housemate was looking, to make sure their gaze didn’t wander to any of the distractions.

Guy Redwood, MD of SimpleUsability, said: “SimpleUsability was the first UK company to use eye tracking glasses in a real-world environment, and while this task was just a bit of fun it does illustrate how unobtrusive the technology has become and the accuracy for the latest generation of glasses.

“The eye tracking glasses pinpointed exactly where contestants were looking when undertaking the challenge; something which the human eye alone could not do as the tiniest of sideward glances would very likely be missed.”
