Digital agency Technophobia, part of Capita plc, is continuing its expansion after recently moving to new premises with the appointment of four new staff, including the former commercial director of Leeds agency Numiko.

Experienced digital strategy enthusiast, Liz Armstrong, has joined Technophobia to head the successful client services team.

Until recently, Armstrong ran the Leeds-based creative agency, As Brave As You, where she worked with clients such as Yorkshire Forward and the Royal Television Company. Prior to which Armstrong was at Numiko where she worked with clients including the BBC, MSN and ITV.

Armstrong said: “My roles have always been primarily user experience focussed, so moving to Technophobia will allow me to continue to use my knowledge and experience of the industry to enable our clients to get the maximum benefit from digital for their business.”

Director of business Ed Goring said: “Liz brings with her a wealth of senior level experience and expertise that will have a positive impact on our clients and to our business. We are delighted to welcome her to the team.”

Alongside a team of around 80 creatives Armstrong will be working on accounts such as The Co-operative Bank, Green Flag and Toshiba.

Also joining the team are Andrew Long, service delivery manager, Phil Garner, IT consultant and Victoria Wood, account executive.

Long comes on board to focus on service delivery for The Technology Strategy Board, a key account. More recently, Lond worked for HSBC in software delivery and was previously head of IT for Bright Finance Ltd.

Experienced IT consultant, Phil Garner, joins the hosting team following his return from stints working in Malta. Previous roles include powerboat instructor and work for the Liberal Democrats.

Pete Lonsdale joins Technophobia’s expert user experience team, bringing with him over 15 years’ experience of interaction design and usability. Previously, Pete worked with companies such as Sky Sports, Ebuyer and Mamas & Papas.

Supporting the marketing team is Victoria Wood, who has worked in various PR and communications roles around the region, including time at Sheffield Wednesday and Fairy Communications.

Goring said: “We’re delighted to have the new recruits on board. They join us at an exciting time, having just moved to a large new office. Expanding the team is vital to help us exploit new opportunities and achieve our ambitions for growth.”
