Facebook has today announced its Explore London 2012 page for the Olympics, features athletes, national teams and individual sports, with broadcasters and sponsors coming soon.

The Explore London 2012 page, which already has over 1,800 ‘likes’, puts all pages relating to the games in one place, allowing people to create their own Olympic list to follow by ‘liking’ the content that appeals to them.

Joanna Shields, VP and managing director EMEA at Facebook, said: "The Olympic Games have always produced incredible stories. Some make headlines, but many never find an audience.

“These Olympics, every story has the potential to be heard. On Facebook, all athletes can have an audience, and every fan can track how their heroes are doing, support them, encourage them, and share their stories with the world."

The new page looks like a good way of keeping track of all of your favourite athlete’s social media pages. It is bound to be the most broadcast Olympics yet in terms of social media activity. I actually wrote a blog this morning on this very same subject and I feel it adds some extra value to this post if you would like to read it? www.sleekmedia.co.uk/blog/facebook-social-media-olympics-2012/
