Andy Walton has left his role of managing director at Golley Slater Birmingham after over six and a half years, and has been replaced by Mike Leeson.

The appointment of Leeson, who joined Golley Slater in 1996 and has held various roles such as leading the Cardiff office, is being described as ‘a re-structure’ by the agency.

Leeson said: “My experience has been all about delivering great marketing campaigns from the regions. I’m really looking forward to immersing myself in what I think is one of the strongest agency scenes outside of London.

“Golley Slater Birmingham has a potent team with a reputation for great creative combined with strong account management. We have some fantastic client relationships driven by a pragmatic, commercially-led approach to marketing and I think there is a huge opportunity to build on that position particularly when clients are looking to maximise their returns.”

Chris Lovell, chief executive of Golley Slater Group, said: “Mike has a very successful track record in regional agency and we think his appointment will provide a step-change for our Birmingham office.

“Andy has made a positive contribution over a significant period of change in the agency structure. He developed positive relationships with both staff and clients and has been valued for his key strategic input. We wish him well for the future.”

It is not currently known if Walton, who left the agency about a week ago, has another role lined up.
