Getty Images is set to use 3D, 360 and robotic cameras in its role as official photographic agency for the Olympic Games.

Capturing the Games in 3D and in a 360 format will allow users to pan in all directions and zoom in in high definition.

Getty Images is also installing a number of robotic cameras at key Olympic sites to capture a view that would otherwise not be seen, such as images captured from the floodlight pylons of the Olympic Stadium.

Adrian Murrell, senior vice president of global editorial at Getty Images, said: “Getty Images photographers will be at the very forefront, capturing the action with the latest technology and enabling us to supply our customers with the widest possible range of images to meet their needs. The fact that this includes 3D and 360 stills, alongside robotic capture is testament to our mission to offer innovative and ground breaking content.”
